- Agriturismo Le Beringhe (Tenuta Barbagallo)
The Farmhouse Barbagallo is a typical tuscan farmhouse located in the heart of Chianti and extended between two ancient hill-top towns in the province of Siena rich in history and art: Casole d'Elsa and Colle di Val d'Elsa. The owners have always handed down from father to sons their traditions, dedicated to cattle breeding and cultivation of cereals, vines and olive groves which give an excellent production of extra virgin olive oil. The farm is a typical Tuscan stone-built farmhouse completely restored, situated in a valley surrounded by sweet tuscan hills. A spectacular landscape right in the heart of the Elsa Valley. If you love relax and nature, Farmhouse Barbagallo is the ideal place to spend your time immersed into an unspoiled environment and in close contact with a unique cultural heritage. Farmhouse Barbagallo is a stone's throw from the sea but also from places rich in art and history as San Gimignano, Volterra, Certaldo, Monteriggioni, Colle di Val d'Elsa, Siena, Florence. - Poderi Arcangelo
This small Tuscan village could only be called Poderi Arcangelo. It is located on the slope of a hill that offers an enchanting panorama. From the vineyards to the olive groves of the organic estate surrounding the Agriturismo Poderi Arcangelo produce famous wines such as: DOCG Chianti of the Siena hills, the Vernaccia DOCG, the Vinsanto DOC and extra-virgin olive oil. Respect for traditional methods, strictly organic and production that excludes the use of any chemical substance are at the base of a no-compromise approach, which has been at the root of our farm becoming a central player in the Tuscan winemaking community. - Agriturismo Cesani Vincenzo
The Cesani family's story started at the beginning of the 1950s in the splendid Tuscan countryside, just 6 km from San Gimignano. Today the farm, still runned by the family, extends over 19 hectares (approx 40 acres) and is cultivated principally with the red Sangiovese grapes and the famous white Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
In the past, olive oil was a very important product and it was in fact the main reason why the Cesani family moved to the San Gimignano area. The extra virgin olive oil is still produced here today, using 4 different varieties of olives, all picked by hand and pressed in a cold press obtaining one of the best oils in the entire Tuscan region. The delicate flavour is perfect for "bruschetta (toasted garlic bread) and it enhances many other typical meals of the area. In the last few years the farm has dedicated itself to the rediscovery of an ancient product of San Gimignano, lost for many centuries: saffron. People used saffron not only in food, but to dye cloth, for medicinal purposes or even for bartering in place of money. - Agriturismo F.lli Vagnoni
Vagnoni brothers’ farm rises on the back of a fine hill in the Tuscan countries. The farm has twenty hectares of vineyard producing several kinds of wine, as Vernaccia of San Gimignano that is one of the main products of this area as it has been the first Italian wine to have had recognized the mark D.O.C.G. in 1966.
Not less important is the Chianti Colli Senesi, obtained for 90% from the grapes Sangiovese and for 10% from the grapes of Canaiolo that are made to ferment into steel tanks. Only in best vintages the farm produces two high quality wines: Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva “I MOCALI” and Toscana Rosso I.G.T. Supertuscans “SODI LUNGHI”
The farm produces also its extra virgin olive oil. - Bagno a Sorra
The Bagno a Sorra agricultural estate, located just outside the walls of Siena, is run according to organic farming requirements, and extends to several other holdings in terrains surrounding the city. Every bottle of extra virgin olive oil produced by the Fanciulli del Casino estate in Siena contains not only an oil of excellent and unmistakable character, but also the ancient history of the families that have contributed to this impassioned farming tradition. Over time, olive growing began to take precedence over crop and livestock farming for the Cigni and Del Casino families, and it has now become the primary focus of the Bagno a Sorra agricultural estate, an activity to which the Fanciulli's brothers show unceasing dedication. Documents dating back to 1800 bear the proof of how lands "with sterile olive trees" have now become prosperous and fuitful olive groves, thanks to constant improvements introduced by successive generations throughout the ages. - Podere Canapaccia
We are in Val d'Orcia, who is considered to be the most beautiful countryside in the world and accordingly has received UNESCO's World Heritage listing. Val d'Orcia was the first rural zone to be awarded with such recognition.
This land has a longstanding tradition in transforming and vegetal fibers processing, making tissues and clothes. Actually the "Canapaccia" (it refers to hemp) runs also an artisanal tailoring activity, called "Milletrame". In their atelier they produce clothes and fabrics exclusively made of hemp. - Agriturismo Il Casato
Immersed between the winding hills of the "Crete Senesi" ("crete" stays for "cretes"), rising between the oak tree woods and the branches of the olive trees lies the ancient cottage "Il Casato". Situated on a naturally formed terrace of the Val d'Orcia, which formerly was the home of many peasants and their families, has become today a farm holiday residence of exceptional high quality.
It is not always easy to combine the comfort of a good hotel with the authentic simplicity of a country house and offer a "real" rural atmosphere. However, Il Casato today has managed to create this unique atmosphere without renouncing any comforts.
The Gonzi family has a real passion for olive oil, and indeed they own a superb traditional oil mill with typical millstones and an old press with fiscoli (pressing mats) which is used only to press olives from the farm's own production. Olive pressing is like a family ceremony that nobody wants to miss, a good opportunity to gather with relatives and friends and taste together the precious gift of olives. - Le Fontanelle
Le Fontanelle is located in the spectacular countryside of the Orcia valley, which has been renowed since the end of the first millennium as important stage on the Via Francigena, the great medieval pilgrimage road from France to Rome. Le Fontanelle was a ruined peasants' house when it was discovered by the Gonzi family, its current owners.
It attracted them not only because of its large size, but also because of the presence of water, which was almost a miracle for this valley.
They named the farmhouse Le Fontanelle, which means "little springs".
The Gonzi family has lived in the Orcia valley for over 50 years. Because they are enamoured of this area, they decided to devote their lives to farming and to improving the countryside of the valley. They have renovated other farmhouses, so the same attention to detail and all the lessons learned from previous renovations have been used in this last restoration, finished in 2003: original stone and bricks, terracotta flooring, antiques and Tuscan wood furniture. - Agriturismo Poggio Covili / Agriturismo La Paciarella
These cottages rises on the hills of the Val d’Orcia, dipped in the nature of a rich territory of tourist and thermal villages: Bagno Vignoni, Chianciano, Bagni S.Filippo.
Recently restructured, they offers a complete stay of every confort; an exceptional sense of the hospitality is guaranteed. Ideal lease in order to catch up in short time natural and artistic landascapes. - Poggio Istiano
Poggio Istiano offers the friendly and quiet hospitality of the old-fashioned tradition that Franco, his wife Graziella and their daughters have preserved. The Pasquini's were among the first Val d’Orcia families who set up a farm accommodation in a very exclusive and secluded place.
Poggio Istiano is an old stone-built farmhouse. According to legend, it was built by the peasants living in the area in return for the medical treatment that they could not afford to pay. Accurate restoration works have managed to keep the informal atmosphere of the past.
Franco Pasquini and his family have been landowners for generations: they now grow different crops like wheat, oats and clover, and also olive groves and vineyards. - Podere San Marcello
Our farmhouse agritourism San Marcello, is situated in the heart of the Val D'Orcia.
Our main occupation is agriculture and cattle breeding, in fact, our agritourism is about real farming! Small, comfortable and picturesque.
The owners, Delfina and Enio, will be happy to attend to your needs. During your stay you can take part in the day-to-day running of the property. Depending on the season, Enio will either be sowing or harvesting wheat, attending to the animals, the vineyard and the vegetable garden, or making wine. All our products can be enjoyed by our guests at our in-house dinners. - Poggio Pilella
The farmhouse overlooks the Chiusi Lake and is surrounded by olive groves and oak and cerro woods. The 360° views are over farmland, gently rolling hills and outlines of nearby towns such as Montepulciano, Cortona and Chiusi.
Our two farms have an area of 225 hectare. We produce extra virgin olive oil DOP and we are planting a vineyard. We raise wheat, barley, sunflowers, corn and medicinal herbs. Part of our land is being reforested and other parts are covered by oak woods. We are establishing an educational center near Lake Chiusi on 8 hectare (acre) which have been granted to the WWF. - La Grancia di Spedaletto
Located in the centre of Val d'Orcia, is the ancient Castello di Spedaletto (Castle of Spedaletto). It was built in the XIIth century by monk Ugolino da Rocchione along the ancient Via Francigena, the main route of communications in Europe, as a hotel for the travellers and the pilgrims who were going to Rome and as a fortified farm. From 1236 the castle was one of the hospitals of Santa Maria della Scala of Siena and it was called Spedale del Ponte dell 'Orcia (Hospital of the Bridge of River Orcia). The castle of Spedaletto is now Agriturismo La Grancia by the Carlettis, and it is a peaceful place for your holidays. - Podere Bonello
The Bonello estate has been in operation since 1700. It lies in the heart of Val D’Orcia nature reserve on the scenic road from Pienza to San Quirico D’Orcia.
The estate has recently been restored in accordance with the state of the art, all the while ensuring that the typical original features are preserved and traditional material used in harmony with the indigenous architecture of the region.
The estate is located in the middle of an enchanting landscape on a hell under cypress trees; lounging in the cool shadows in the garden or totally relaxing along the edge of the swimming pool, you can admire the green slopes and the Crete des Val D’Orcia, Monte Amiata in its majestic glory and the sunset in all its unforgettable colours - Agriturismo Vergelle
In the tranquility of the Crete Senesi, behind the Val d’Orcia and the vineyards of Montalcino, we find Vergelle, an ancient and very little village situated onto the hills of San Giovanni d’Asso.
Vergelle is the ideal destination for the ones who intend to escape from the stress of the routine, to plunge themselves into a world which elsewhere does not exist far-back, between wonderful hills touched by the light of the day which offer emotional and fairy sights.
Here the hosts are warmly followed out by the family of the owners, who is always glad of letting visit the craft cheese factory of the firm, where it produces the delicious pecorino cheese of the Crete Senesi, which is allowed to taste and buy. - Podere Spedalone
All of Spedalone’s technical installations have been selected with environmental considerations foremost in mind. The farm is operated in accordance with organic farming requirements and all the farming methods and works are designed to minimize the use of energy.. All waste products are recycled. Our products are all organically grown. We make: extra virgin first cold press olive oil (blend and monoculture) made exclusively from pitted olives; cured olives; jams, preserves, vegetables pickled in vinegar or packed in oil, wild pickled asparagus and mushrooms; red and white vinegar; salami and pork products made from “cinta senese” pigs; goat's cheese: fresh, aged, seasoned, smoked, ricotta (forthcoming); goat meat and salami; free-range eggs.
